Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo‘s divorce agreement includes one surprising detail about the former couple’s plans to have a child together.

Newly released court documents reveal the two waived their attorneys’ recommendation to seek specialized legal advice before pursuing reproduction after their marriage ended.

According to the marital dissolution agreement, both Jelly Roll (Jason DeFord) and Bunnie Xo (Alisa DeFord) were advised that there could be legal consequences for having children together after their divorce due to evolving technology, changing case law, and legal interests surrounding genetic material.

According toPeople, the filing states both attorneys acknowledged they are not experts in genetic and reproductive rights and recommended the former couple seek independent counsel from attorneys who specialize in that area.

Instead, the agreement states Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo “specifically chose not to seek such counsel.”

Their Attorneys Explained Why

According to the agreement, both were warned there could be consequences to pursuing reproduction together after dissolving their marriage because reproductive technology and related case law continue to evolve.

The filing also references the “interim category” of legal interests afforded to genetic material. However, it doesn’t elaborate on how that language specifically applies to Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo’s situation.

In addition to waiving specialized reproductive counsel, the former couple also declined additional legal advice related to tax matters, real estate, and Social Security.

The Filing Doesn’t Change Their Family Plans

Bunnie Xo has previously documented the couple’s fertility journey and plans to welcome a child through surrogacy, even after their divorce.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo finalized their divorce on July 17 after reaching a confidential settlement.

Under the agreement, Jelly Roll will make a one-time confidential payment to Bunnie Xo in place of future alimony, while the pair also agreed to divide shared assets, including homes, vehicles, an aircraft, and intellectual property.
