A 30% minority stake in Liverpool could be changing hands in the coming months as investor Amit Bhatia, the relative of steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, is reportedly interested.
Bhatia and his consortium reportedly approached Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the fourth-richest man in the world, to join their team. Current Liverpool owner John Henry purchased the team in 2010 for $477 million and now values the team north of $6 billion.
According to the Sky News deal involving Bezos is not imminent: a source warned the Amazon billionaire about joining the group. But it is claimed talks have been held over him being involved in the deal.
Bezos, who has since expanded his portfolio to several other business endeavors, has an estimated net worth of $257 billion, per Forbes.

How did Jeff Bezos make so much money?
Bezos launched Amazon, the world's most lucrative e-commerce company, in 1994. It has since exploded into a multi-media empire involved in movies, television, cloud engineering, and more.
The 62-year-old billionaire is also the owner of the Washington Post, a prominent American newspaper that recently laid off a large portion of its sports department.
Bezos has other large investments, including Blue Origin (his aerospace company), Airbnb, Prometheus (AI manufacturing), and more. He is not known to be invested in any major sports teams.
What is happening with FSG?
Fenway Sports Group issued a statement on Bhatia's interest to BBC Sports. "Fenway Sports Group (FSG) told BBC Sport: "An investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club," it read.
Bhatia recently reduced his stake in English side Queen Park Rangers, which is currently playing in the Championship, to open the door to a potential move to Liverpool.

Bhatia was the director and co-owner of QPR for 18 seasons as the club oscillated between the top flight and the second division of English football.
What next for Liverpool?
The Reds are currently in the United States for their preseason tour, with upcoming matchups against Sunderland and Wrexham set for next week.
Some major World Cup stars, including Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, are slowly making their way back to the AXA Training Center in Merseyside. They are currently absent from Liverpool's pre-season activities across the pond.
