Jeana Keough is facing two new challenges amid her ongoing battle with cancer.

The “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum was recently diagnosed with tongue cancer, leading to her daughter launching a GoFundMe to aid her medical expenses.

Jeana Keough is hospitalized and unable to eat after doctors found more problems. She isn’t the first housewife to be diagnosed with cancer, as Teddi Mellencamp and Monyetta Shaw-Carter faced similar health battles.

Keough’s daughter, Kara Bosworth, recently updated fans about the former Bravolebrity’s condition on Instagram. She shared a picture of the 70-year-old lying on a hospital bed with drips and other equipment in the background.

Bosworth noted that she had received several questions about Keough’s well-being, so she decided to make a public announcement to answer everyone’s queries. Unfortunately, she had more bad news than good, revealing her mother had been unable “to eat a meal for 2 weeks,” adding:

“So she’s extremely depleted. We uncovered a DVT clot in her leg, and now an infection, too.”

The Former Bravolebrity Was Initially Scheduled For Surgery

Bosworth explained that Keough had been scheduled for a G-tube surgery, but the feeding tube could no longer be directly inserted into her stomach. Doctors paused the surgery because they needed “clarity on the infection.”

The worried daughter added that the DVT clot found in Keough’s leg plus the infection have also caused her mother’s chemotherapy and radiation treatments to be “temporarily paused” until they could figure out their next steps.

Bosworth added that Keough remained in high spirits, writing, “You better believe Jeana is insisting she only had a ‘fake fever’ and that she’s fine to continue with the surgery.” She concluded her caption by asking for prayers so Keough could resume treatments soon.

The TV Personality Is Grateful For The Outpouring Of Love And Support

Bosworth shared more updates on the GoFundMe page she created for Keough’s medical bills, revealing that her mother was “admitted through the emergency department on Sunday evening.” She explained that doctors had determined the entertainer needed a G-tube to receive nutrition.

But the DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) in her leg and the infection made the surgery impossible. Bosworth noted her mother was “understandably upset about the delay” as she was “a very hungry caterpillar” after surviving without any real meals for weeks.

Until the surgery and her cancer treatments could resume, Bosworth claimed Keough found comfort in the love and support shared on the GoFundMe page. “Beyond the money, which has taken a huge burden and a debilitating stress off her shoulders, she’s overwhelmed by the love,” Bosworth wrote.

Jeana Keough Was Diagnosed With Tongue Cancer After Months-Long Symptoms

When Bosworth launched the GoFundMe page for Keough’s medical bills, The Blast reported that she shared a lengthy statement about her mother’s cancer battle. She revealed the entertainer’s problems started with a painful spot on her tongue.

Keough initially believed it was a tooth problem and visited the dentist until her daughter asked how long she had been dealing with the pain. When the former “RHOC” star realized she had been enduring the pain for nearly a year, she went for a biopsy.

Keough was then diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. She underwent surgery to remove the cancer and another operation to remove her lymph nodes, which led to the discovery of a bigger problem: the cancer had already spread.

Other Housewives Who Have Faced Similar Cancer Battles

Keough isn’t the first housewife to deal with cancer, as “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, Teddi Mellencamp, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. PEOPLE reported that she removed 17 melanomas after her diagnosis before doctors discovered the cancer had spread.

Mellencamp confirmed the news in February 2025, explaining that CT and MRI scans found multiple tumors in her brain after she endured weeks of “severe and debilitating headaches.” More tumors were found in her lungs, and her cancer progressed to stage 4.

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Monyetta Shaw-Carter was far luckier in her cancer battle. The outlet shared in May 2025 that the reality TV star had been diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma in November 2024. She underwent a lumpectomy and radiation treatments to become cancer-free.

Get well soon, Jeana Keough!
