The classic citrus soda is everywhere, from fan-favorite flavors like Blackberry Citrus and White Out returning to shelves to the much-anticipated release of the all-new Dirty Mountain Dew, which draws inspiration from the dirty soda trend. Not only have we been gifted with new flavors this season, but also specialty can designs that commemorate the nearly 80-year-old brand.
And it’s not just the soda category that Mountain Dew is shaking up. It recently took over 7-Elevens with a new Slurpee flavor, Mountain Dew Confetti Chill, to celebrate National Slurpee Day. It also made its way into the bakery aisles at Kwik Trip with the launch of Mountain Dew Dunker Donuts.
Truly, the Mountain Dew is flowing, and so is the creativity. Its latest trick? Giving Baja Blast fans something cool and refreshing to look forward to as we approach the height of summer.
Mountain Dew Debuts New Baja Blast Glass Bottles
If you think that Coca-Cola tastes better from a glass bottle (I certainly do), you’ll be excited to know that Baja Blast is getting the same treatment. Mountain Dew is set to release glass bottles of Baja Blast, and they look as cool as they taste.
Each glass bottle holds 12 ounces—the same amount as the can but far less than the 20-ounce plastic bottle. However, the charmingly retro bottles give the fan-favorite soda a slightly more elevated look, with the soda’s sea-green hue on full display behind the clear glass.
And it’s not just the packaging that’s changed. The Baja Blast in the glass bottles is “made with real sugar,” as printed on the label, rather than high-fructose corn syrup, which is what’s typically used in Baja Blast cans and plastic bottles. So, if you take a sip and think it tastes different, that’s because it is.
The specialty glass bottles have already been spotted at stores, including 7-Eleven, Kroger, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, and Woodman’s Markets, and we have our fingers crossed that availability will continue to expand as summer rolls on.
To no one’s surprise, Baja Blast fans everywhere are fizzing with excitement over the release. Commenters under Mountain Dew’s recent post about the drop shared, “I actually gasped.” Meanwhile, another fan commented, “I just know that glass bottle taste is from a different universe.”
“I’m gonna need a few cases of this,” added another person.
