New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson joked that his team's miraculous NBA Championship run might have played a role in Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce picking Madison Square Garden as their wedding venue.
"Maybe. Maybe," Brunson, 29, said last week at Variety's inaugural Sports & Entertainment Studio in New York. "But knowing how weddings work, I feel like that may have been predetermined a while back, but especially knowing how tightly scheduled the Garden is, I don't know. But it was definitely, probably, clearly a memorable night for them."
Swift and Kelce, both 36, got hitched at MSG on July 3, less than three weeks after Brunson and the Knicks won the 2026 NBA title, the franchise's first in 1973.
Days before the wedding, there was a report that Brunson and the rest of the Knicks' starting five - Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns - were invited to the nuptials. When asked if that was true, Brunson admitted he didn't even know.

"It's a great question," he said. "I found out the same way the rest of the world did. So, I don't know if it was true or not, but I did not attend."
Swift and the Knicks became a hot topic during the NBA Finals, after the pop star attended Game 4 in custom Knicks gear and vocally supported the team courtside.
Some basketball fans derided Swift's presence at the game, arguing that the Pennsylvania native wasn't a true Knicks fan - but that's not how Brunson saw it.
"It's cool. It's really cool having her there," he gushed. "I feel like her being in Cleveland for courtside one game, obviously, I think Travis and the Kelces are from Ohio, so I get that. And she's been at the Knicks' games before. So, I mean, whoever comes, as long as you're cheering us on, we appreciate it. And I think that was probably a really good game to come to as well."

Swift and Kelce, a Cleveland Heights native, sat courtside for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers in May.
In an exclusive interview with Us during the NBA Finals, Jalen's wife, Ali, and Hart's wife, Shannon, defended Swift showing up to Knicks games at the Garden.
"That was awesome to see. She was there with her custom T-shirts," Ali, 30, said, referring to Swift's "Stevie Knicks" shirt, which was made by her friend, Alana Haim.
Shannon, 31, added, "Just seeing how into the game she was, that was really cool. Jumping up and down, hugging each other."
