Seven months removed from a brutal sixth-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua that left him with a broken jaw, the 29-year-old is eyeing a very different kind of ring. In a fresh sit-down, Paul revealed a claim that has NFL circles buzzing, and it involves teams he says are already circling him.
Jake Paul Says NFL Teams Are Already Interested
Speaking with Front Office Sports, Paul made it clear he believes his post-boxing future could include an NFL roster spot.
“There is a lot of super mediocrity in the NFL. A lot of not-good athletes,” Paul said bluntly.
The line spread fast across social media, drawing mockery from some fans and genuine curiosity from others.
Paul insists the interest is real. He claims a handful of franchises and coaching staffs have already spoken with him about a roster spot once his boxing career winds down. The comments build on remarks he made last month, when he laid out a plan to gain college experience at Stanford before testing the professional ranks as a slot receiver.
The Cleveland native has long been open about his football roots. He played wide receiver and linebacker across two varsity seasons in high school, though he never suited up at the college level. Paul argues that his boxing-honed speed, strength and work ethic give him an edge over players he considers replaceable.
Critics, including former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, have pushed back hard, arguing the jump from combat sports to professional football is far tougher than Paul makes it sound.

This is not the first time the Paul family’s boxing world has bled into NFL culture. His brother Logan Paul’s ongoing feud with Tom Brady, which turned physical during a Fanatics Fest appearance earlier this year, shows how often the family’s fame collides with football circles. Jake has stayed close to that storyline, and his own football claims only add another layer to the crossover appeal driving conversations between the two worlds.
Whether any of it turns into an actual roster spot is still an open question. Paul’s focus for now stays on his health, since he is still working his way back from the jaw injury suffered against Joshua, and his team has been careful about locking in a firm return date. That recovery path may end up shaping his next move more than any football dream does.
For now, Paul remains without a confirmed opponent or a football contract. His camp expects a boxing return later in 2026, while his favorite team, the Browns, opens camp still chasing the same on-field respectability he claims the league is missing.
