Just a few weeks before 2026 training camp began, the news dropped that Travis Hunter would be a full-go. A later update revealed that he wouldn't be at full strength until the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Cleveland Browns in the Week 1 opener, but it was still encouraging to find out that the former Heisman Trophy winner has made strides in his recovery from the knee injury that brought his rookie season to a screeching halt.

And if there were any doubts that Hunter would have limitations or be on a snap count, a recent video shows just how far he is in his recovery.

Just a few days before the Jags kickstart training camp, they posted a video on social media that shows Travis Hunter working out and running sprints at full speed. During the clip, he talked about the injury and his recovery.

"Getting hurt in practice was kind of crazy. I was like, 'All right, man, I'll be back. It's practice.' I'm not thinking nothing bad happened that was really crazy until I tried to get up and walk, and I couldn't walk. I was devastated," Hunter said on the video. "I wouldn't be on the field helping the guys win. The offense was just starting to gel, and I was just starting to catch my groove into the season. Now I had ankle surgery before, but knee is way different than any other surgery I had."

Hunter continued, "Me being able to sit down and just see everything, me knowing I had to get in the gym and continue to work because nothing's gonna come easy. I'm just not gonna be able to wake up next day and stay to my same routine with just me being me, so I know I had to change a couple things, get out of my comfort zone, and just be ready to go."

Later in the clip, Hunter said that being around his teammates and coaches helped, noting that they helped him stay prepared.

"Coming up here and being my teammates helped me out a lot. Being able to be in the building and still watch football. Just coming in, the coaches helping me, giving me, still making me and quizzing me. So them quizzes, it helped a lot being able to stay connected to football, make sure I'm in the playbook still, so that was great for me," Hunter said.

Hunter got off to a slow start to his rookie campaign, but some of that stemmed from the fact that he was learning how to play two positions at the NFL level. Once he hit his stride, he began to put on display the kind of game-changing skills that made him a collegiate star at Colorado.

But following his breakout game against the Los Angeles Rams, Hunter suffered an LCL injury. He underwent surgery not long after and has been working on his recovery ever since. Based on the video, though, he'll be ready for trianing camp. Below is the full clip in case you want to give it a look:

The Jaguars are counting on Travis Hunter to take off in 2026

It's one thing to be in shape, and a whole different one to be in football shape, but you can bet that Travis Hunter has been pouring hours into watching tape. Once he's cleared, he'll get to put into practice everything he's learned.

Expected to play two ways in 2026, Hunter just logged 36 percent of the team's total snaps on defense. However, he'll tentatively play cornerback full-time next season. Being healthy will allow him to reach his All-Pro potential at the position.

The Jaguars managed to go 13-4 without Travis Hunter last year. If he's truly back, he could be the spark that ignites a deep playoff push in 2026.
