'Jagged Little Pill' and 'Mean Girls' part of new Civic Theatre season

Civic Theatre's four-show season will begin in October and include old and new favorites.

For the rest of 2026 and first half of 2027, Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre in Carmel has put together a slate of productions that draws from pop culture hits. Book-ending the season are "Jagged Little Pill, the Musical," named after the 1995 album by singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, and "Mean Girls," which found its way to musical form after the popular 2004 movie.

In between are two classics long beloved by theater audiences plus in October, Civic Theatre will announce a surprise new comedy. Performances will take place at the Tarkington or the Studio Theater at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts.

'Jagged Little Pill, the Musical'

Oct. 2-17

Audiences will recognize several songs from the 1995 album in this musical about a seemingly perfect family dealing with addiction, searching for their identity and trying to heal.

'Annie'

Dec. 4-26

The classic about a young orphan's optimism is set in 1930s New York City and includes a soundtrack of favorites that includes “Tomorrow,” “Hard Knock Life” and “Maybe."

'Steel Magnolias'

March 12-27, 2027

Against the backdrop of a small Louisiana beauty salon, a group of resilient women help each other through life adventures and difficult situations.

'Mean Girls'

April 30-May 15, 2027

When Cady Heron transitions to an American high school after growing up in Africa, she faces social hurdles as she tries to juggle fitting in with the most popular girls without giving up her own identity and wrecking new friendships.
