Pratt & Whitney, an RTX (RTX) business, said Jackson Square Aviation has selected its geared turbofan, or GTF, engines to power an undisclosed number of Airbus A320neo family aircraft.
Jackson Square Aviation didn't disclose how many aircraft are covered by the agreement.
The leasing company currently owns 91 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines as well as 11 Airbus A320ceo aircraft equipped with V2500 engines.
The latest selection extends the companies' existing relationship as Jackson Square Aviation continues to expand its portfolio of A320neo-family aircraft.
The engine selection was announced during the Farnborough International Airshow, where aerospace manufacturers traditionally introduce new products and announce aircraft and engine orders. For investors, the biennial event is a key venue for tracking commercial aviation demand and competition among aircraft and engine manufacturers as airlines and leasing companies place long-term fleet commitments.
Growing installed engine base
Pratt & Whitney said more than 2,800 GTF-powered aircraft are currently in service with more than 90 operators worldwide.
The company said it has an order backlog of more than 8,000 GTF engines.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and neither company identified the airlines that will ultimately operate the aircraft.
