He then added, "I laughed and said, 'Yeah, I know. I've done 80 movies.'"

Nolan repeated his warning without hesitation, making clear that Damon's experience across eighty films would not soften what lay ahead on The Odyssey. Damon later admitted the director did not disappoint, calling the production the hardest work he has ever taken on. Speaking with Capital FM, he pointed to the ambition behind the story and the challenge of capturing nearly everything in camera, particularly across sequences shot for IMAX.

As the physical demands of the shoot became clear, another side of Damon's admiration for Nolan started to surface.

That instinct traced back to earlier collaborations, including Interstellar, where Damon once performed with crampons dug into an Icelandic glacier while massive equipment shifted around him unannounced. Having now worked with Nolan three times, Damon called the process consistently organic despite its scale. The same instinct that shaped those earlier films carried directly into The Odyssey, turning an underestimated warning into the hardest shoot of his career.
