The Detroit Lions said goodbye to David Montgomery this offseason, trading him to the Houston Texans and ending their three-year relationship in the process. It was a tough pill for Lions fans to swallow since Montgomery was a great player, but the move made sense.

Montgomery didn't seem all that happy about getting traded, opening up about the deal earlier this month. He made it clear that he loved the city of Detroit and wanted to finish his career in the Honolulu blue and silver.

Well, fast forward a few weeks, and Montgomery is potentially taking shots at his former team on Instagram. The running back posted a story on his Instagram that read, "I'm humble enough to know I'm replaceable but [I'm] cocky enough to know you gon miss me!"

Not only does this seem like a shot at the Lions organization, but it’s also not hard to see it as a potential slight toward Isiah Pacheco. The Lions signed Pacheco to replace Montgomery, and clearly, the now-former Lion doesn't seem all that impressed by who is going to fill his role in Detroit's backfield.

The Lions were always going to part ways with Montgomery over the offseason, and even he voiced that he knew that decision was coming. He's now with another contending team, while the Lions were forced to replace him and did so with a two-time Super Bowl champion.

Pacheco might have regressed during his final season in Kansas City, but there's a lot of hope that a change of scenery can spark something in him. The Lions are no stranger to having a stout run game, and Lions fans are optimistic that the combination of Jahmyr Gibbs and Isiah Pacheco can keep that going in the Motor City.

As for Montgomery, he's allowed to say whatever he wants and have whatever opinions he has on his former team. It's unfortunate that he's taking this angle against the Lions, but hey, he's entitled to feel however he wants to feel.
