A fake post tricked a bunch of people on Tuesday about ESPN's Jay Bilas.

Did ESPN lay off longtime college basketball analyst Jay Bilas as part of its company-wide cuts on Tuesday?

No, but a fake Jon Rothstein account tricked a good number of people into thinking Bilas was no longer with the network.

The fake post from "@NotJ0NRoth" shared that ESPN was "parting ways" with Bilas, but it was just a prank post meant to pull a ruse. Bilas was not part of the company's layoffs on Tuesday; he is still employed by ESPN.

Fake posts like this made the rounds on Tuesday aplenty, and this one really did seem to fool a bunch of people. Again, Bilas is still at ESPN. This was just a joke post that people thought was real.

Always look at the profile and particularly the handle these days when verifying if it's legitimate or just a satire account. You never know when you might be the next person to get pranked.

What were the other fake posts that emerged on Tuesday?

This one about ESPN ending its ties with Make-A-Wish was particularly bad.
