One of my favorite little joys in life is snuggling on the couch with a fuzzy blanket, which means I have dozens of blankets. I have some handy tricks for storing my blankets, like hanging them from a curtain rod in my living room, but I'm always looking for more space-saving tips.

Luckily, there's an easy trick making the rounds on social media that keeps blankets compact and secure. Plus, it's grandma-approved!

What Is the Grandma-Approved Blanket Folding Trick?

Creators Liz and Jeff Richards shared a video showcasing a simple, smart way one of their grandmothers taught them to fold a quilt, and I couldn't wait to try it. You fold the quilt in a series of triangles and rectangles until it creates a little pocket, then tuck the quilt into the pocket to keep it in place.

I was mesmerized by the process and loved how neat the folded quilt looked, so I put it to the test. I watched the video several times to familiarize myself with the technique, and then I got to work - but I still followed the video step-by-step while folding.

What Happened When I Tried This Blanket Storage Trick

I pulled out one of my soft, thin blankets I use during summer and folded each corner the way the video details, which reminded me of an envelope. It was tough to get crisp lines with the soft material, but the overall folding strategy worked well.

After I was done, I was able to tuck the blanket in with a hotel-worthy fold and neatly pack it in my linen closet with ease.

Why I Love This Blanket Storage Trick

I love how effective this folding technique is. All you need is some concentration and patience to get a fabulous (and efficient) fold. I also appreciate how this works on thinner blankets like quilts and throws that don't always stay folded in storage.

All in all, it's a game-changer for storing my summer blanket collection, and will keep my collection tidy all year long.

Dear Abby: I don’t want to sound like a spoiled brat, but I want my friends to celebrate me

DEAR ABBY: I have two best friends going back to third grade (we’re in our 30s now) and one older sister. I’m the last in my friend group to get married. My fiancé and I are eloping this summer. We already own a house and need nothing, so I told my mother and sister that a bridal shower is unnecessary. Plus, since we are eloping, I felt it rude to invite people to a shower when no one would be invited to the elopement. However, nobody has...
