Swan Lake is under the artistic leadership of celebrated dancer César Morales. EVOKE caught up with the Chilean performer to understand why Swan Lake is a fan-favourite production.

'I mean, the wonderful score, the music, and the beauty of the ballet, because it's so magical. I think one of the strongest points of this ballet is the Corps de Ballet. To see all of these swans appear and make wonderful shapes on stage, it's beautiful.

'And everyone knows the story. It's not complicated to understand. I think it's all the beauty that you see on stage; it will always touch the people, the audience, no matter how many hundreds of years it's been around.'

Swan Lake holds a special place in César's heart, especially. After a year in the Corps de Ballet, he was promoted to soloist and a year later to principal dancer immediately after his first performance of Swan Lake.

'It has a very special meaning for me, because when I was 18 years old, I was promoted to the top rank, that is principal dancer, dancing in Swan Lake,' the dancer tells us.

'I have really beautiful memories, and then I got an incredible contract with Vienna State Opera as a guest principal after they saw me dancing the production.

'So it's always very special for me, and now I'm taking Ballet de Santiago to Dublin with the same production. It's always been a very important part of my life and my career,' he says.

Tickets to Ballet de Santiago's Swan Lake at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre are available here, priced from €35.45.
