Management says the fire left the building inoperable.

A popular Houston breakfast and lunch spot is facing an uncertain future after a fire ripped through one of its longtime locations over the weekend.

Frank's Grill at 1915 Mangum Rd. was heavily damaged Saturday afternoon, leaving the building unusable with little that can be salvaged, according to the restaurant's general manager.

The fire broke out shortly after the restaurant closed for the day, preventing any injuries.

"On Saturday, 7/18/2026 a little after 4 p, we noticed lots of smoke in the kitchen, so we contacted 911 immediately," the general manager told Chron. "It was after normal business hours so no one was in the building at the time. We thank God no one was there when the incident occurred."

The Houston Fire Department responded to the blaze Saturday afternoon. Firefighters worked to contain the fire before it spread beyond the building.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire created immediate uncertainty for employees, but management says efforts were made to keep staff working.

"The impact is great for our Mangum employees and the owner," the general manager said. "In order to make sure our crew is taken care of, we have sent them to other Frank's Grill locations and affiliated businesses."

The restaurant also thanked customers who have supported the Mangum location.

"We appreciate all our customers who have been coming to our Mangum location for years," the general manager said. "We thank them for their prayers and encouragement. We understand the Mangum closure will be an inconvenience for our customers for the time being."

Customers looking to support the business can still visit Frank's Grill's Highway 6 and Westheimer Road locations, as well as Hanz Diner Houston.

Known for its Southern-style comfort food and hearty breakfast plates, Frank's Grill has been a neighborhood staple for years, serving dishes ranging from chicken fried steak and biscuits with gravy to burgers, sandwiches and daily lunch specials.

The Mangum Road location will remain closed indefinitely.

"We are trying our best to reopen but there is no timeline at the moment unfortunately," the general manager said. "On behalf of our Frank's Grill Mangum staff and management, we sincerely appreciate your concern and prayers."
