Hill Country's Gruene Music & Wine Festival marks 40 years of Texas tradition

Since 1987, the Gruene Music & Wine Festival has filled the Hill Country with live music, craft beer and Texas wines. This fall, the longtime celebration marks its 40th anniversary with four days of concerts, tastings and festive fall events.

The festival returns Oct. 8-11, bringing wine and beer tastings, live performances, artisan markets and other festivities to historic Gruene. Tickets are on sale now. Tasting passes and commemorative wine glasses will be available for purchase at the event, while admission to live music performances is sold separately.

What began as a one-day fundraiser in 1987 celebrating Texas and Americana music has grown into a beloved Hill Country tradition showcasing the best of the Lone Star State.

This year's live music lineup includes a slew of beloved bands and balladeers, such as Robert Earl Keen, Shane Smith and the Saints, the Steeldrivers, Tanner Usrey, John Baumann, Kat Hasty and more.

 The four-day festival will help raise funds for United Way, which aims to "engage the community and focus resources for those in need in Comal and Guadalupe Counties" by "feeding the hungry, providing safety to those in danger, furnishing educational and fitness programs for our youth and elderly, and keeping the lights on for those in crisis," according to the organization's mission page.

"At its heart, the Gruene Music & Wine Fest has always been about bringing people together," Cami Lehmann, vice president of marketing for organizer Momentous Concepts, said in a statement. "We're excited to make this year's festival our best yet."
