A road-maintenance project will shut down a lane on southbound Interstate 5 on Tuesday morning, according to a news release from Washington Department of Transportation.
Approaching Exit 114 near the Nisqually River Bridge, the right lane will close to make space for a guardrail repair by WSDOT crews. The repair will take place from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Access to Exit 114 will remain open during the maintenance. The news release states that drivers should expect slower speeds and some congestion as they approach the work zone.
The news release also lists precautions for drivers, advising people to leave early or take alternative routes if possible. It also reminds people to drive slowly, for the safety of both WSDOT crews and drivers. From 2020 to 2025, WSDOT reported, Washington averaged 1,345 work-zone crashes a year.
