Graham funeral details released by sister’s office

The late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will be honored in funeral services in Washington, D.C., and in his home state of South Carolina next week, according to new details shared by his sister’s office Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for the late lawmaker announced last week that services would be held on July 28 in D.C., followed by memorials in South Carolina on July 29. 

The D.C. memorial will begin with an arrival ceremony at the U.S. Capitol for a recognition of his 31 years of service in Congress, followed by a funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral. This service will include a tribute from President Trump. 

The late senator’s remains will be transported to South Carolina on the evening of July 28 in preparation for memorial services in the state beginning the following morning. 

The South Carolina funeral procession will include a law enforcement presentation, an F-16 flyover from the 169th Fighter Wing of the McEntire Joint National Guard Base and a church service. After the service, Graham’s remains will be buried at a private family ceremony in Pickens County, S.C. 

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) appointed Darline Graham to serve out the remainder of her late brother’s term following his death earlier this month. She announced Monday she will seek a six-year term in the seat after encouragement from President Trump. 

“I am grateful to all those who have come together to help honor and remember Lindsey,” Darline Graham said in a statement released Tuesday alongside the funeral arrangement details.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to President Trump and his team, Washington National Cathedral, Senate leadership, First Baptist Church of Columbia and the Senate Sergeant at Arms for going above and beyond to ensure these will be honorable tributes to Lindsey.”
