Guerrilla Games and PlayStation have been silent regarding "Horizon 3," the sequel game of the iconic PS exclusive franchise, but a new report shares an update regarding what to expect from the next title.
'Horizon 3' Report Shares Update on Potential Sequel
During a recent "Last Stand Media" stream, former IGN journalist Colin Moriarty and "God of War" creator David Jaffe discussed "Horizon 3" directly.
Both are known for having strong industry connections within PlayStation circles, and both claimed to know people who have already played the game. Neither revealed their specific sources, though it's not uncommon for publishers like PlayStation to bring in early testers and mock reviewers ahead of a game's announcement.
"Horizon Zero Dawn" released in 2017, with its sequel "Horizon Forbidden West" following five years later in 2022. That pattern suggests "Horizon 3" could realistically land sometime in 2027, though very little concrete reporting on the game has surfaced so far.
'Horizon 3' Will Be a Good Game Like the First Two
According to ComicBook, both Moriarty and Jaffe said they had been told the game is good, something that lines up with how well received the first two entries in the series have been.
"Horizon Zero Dawn" earned widespread praise for its distinct post-apocalyptic setting, where towering robotic creatures roam a world reclaimed by nature. The game also won multiple industry awards, including recognition as one of the best PlayStation exclusives and best role-playing games of its release year, and it earned a Game of the Year nomination as well.
"Horizon Forbidden West" built directly on that foundation when it followed five years later, expanding the world with new biomes, additional traversal tools like underwater exploration and gliding, and a wider variety of machine types and weapon options for players to experiment with. Critics generally described it as a true sequel in every sense.
According to their sources, "Horizon 3" reportedly feels like more of both previous games combined. Jaffe described the game as incredibly well executed but noted it felt very familiar, saying people who played it came away with the sense that they'd already experienced this kind of gameplay before.
Moriarty confirmed that his own sources described the game similarly as good, reinforcing the idea that fans of the first two "Horizon" titles should expect more of the exploration, machine hunting, and world building that defined the series so far.
Guerrilla Games Has Yet to Confirm Sequel
Despite these secondhand accounts, nothing about "Horizon 3" has been officially confirmed by Guerrilla Games or Sony. Moreover, both Moriarty and Jaffe stressed that everything shared should be treated with caution since none of it comes from an official source.
Their information is based on conversations with focus testers and mock reviewers, whose personal tastes and expectations could shape how they described the game.
Moriarty also mentioned separately that he had heard less flattering things about Haven Interactive Studio's upcoming game, known as "Fairgame$" or "Break In," suggesting that title may be running into trouble during development.
At present, "Horizon 3" remains unannounced, leaving fans to rely on unofficial reports like this one until Guerrilla Games or Sony share anything concrete about the next chapter in the franchise.
