If you have summer dinner plans that involve a bread basket, there are two rolls you may want to avoid. The FDA has recalled two popular Pillsbury products from store shelves due to possible contamination by foreign material—specifically, glass fragments.
General Mills, the owner of Pillsbury, voluntarily recalled two affected products: Hard Roll Dough and Kaiser Roll Dough. According to previous statements, the affected products were sold exclusively at Walmart in-store bakeries in 19 states. A General Mills spokesperson shared that the company “issued a voluntary recall of two frozen dough products baked onsite and sold exclusively at Walmart in-store bakeries in the United States.” Since the recall was issued, all affected products have been removed from retailers.
As such, it is highly unlikely that consumers currently have any of the affected products in their homes. The dough was sold in commercial units to be baked on-site by retailers, not as consumer-facing products. Nevertheless, here’s what to be on the lookout for:
- Pillsbury Hard Roll Dough with Better if Used by dates of October 12, 2026, and October 13, 2026, and the lot codes 11JUN6JL and 12JUN6JL.
- Pillsbury Kaiser Roll Dough with a Better if Used by date of October 13, 2026, and lot number 12JUN6JL.
Over 4,000 cases, or approximately 735,440 rolls, of the dough have been pulled from Walmart stores in Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, meaning consumption of the product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
