AUSTIN (KXAN) – A Williamson County judge acquitted Georgetown homebuilder Norman Ashby of a first-degree felony charge alleging misapplication of fiduciary property involving more than $300,000.
Court records show Judge Stacey Mathews signed a judgment of acquittal on July 17 following Ashby’s trial in the 277th District Court. Ashby had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The acquittal comes after Ashby, owner of Ashby Signature Homes, was previously indicted as part of an investigation announced by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Prosecutors had alleged Ashby improperly handled customer funds connected to home construction projects in Williamson County.
