Gary Neville and Alan Shearer blasted Argentina's post-match behavior after the World Cup final

Former England legends Gary Neville and Alan Shearer have both slammed Argentina's actions after the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

The pair were especially harsh on the rowdy scenes that erupted after Spain's win, which included several Argentina players, including Leandro Paredes.

Gary Neville Calls Argentina's Behavior "A Disgrace"

Neville commended Argentina's competitive nature during the tournament but said their behaviour in recent games had gone too far.

The former Manchester United captain said after the game: "It's a disgrace. I love the competitiveness of the Argentines, fighting and scrapping for their lives."

But Neville thought that the team's actions were more important than their performances. The England legend said, "Messi has propped them up. But it's been a disgrace the last few games."

His remarks came as a response to the rising criticism of Argentina's increasingly heated clashes in the knockout rounds and in the World Cup final itself.

Alan Shearer Condemns Leandro Paredes' Actions

BBC pundit Alan Shearer also took a dig at Argentina's post-match attitude, specifically at midfielder Leandro Paredes.

Shearer was especially displeased with Paredes' role in one of the altercations after the game.

The England legend said, "Paredes threw two or three haymakers into someone's face. He went for them. There is no place or space for that."

Shearer admitted that it was a painful experience to lose a World Cup final, but said that players should be respectful when they lose.

He added, "Too many times we have seen that from Argentina. The reaction after the final whistle is terrible."

The criticism from two of England's most respected former internationals has joined the debate that has been raging over Argentina's behaviour since the World Cup final. Many fans praise the team's passion while others agree that emotions should never cross into unsportsmanlike behavior.
