The FDA is warning consumers not to eat certain Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics banana and strawberry fruit puree pouches after a packaging defect left strands of soft plastic inside some products.

Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics recalled certain banana and strawberry fruit puree pouches Wednesday after a packaging defect left strands of plastic inside some products.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a notice urging consumers who bought the affected Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics banana and strawberry puree pouches not to eat them and to return them to the store where they were purchased. The 4-ounce pouches were sold exclusively at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores nationwide between March 6 and July 13.

An internal packaging defect caused strands of soft, food-grade plastic to appear in some of the puree pouches. No injuries associated with the packaging defect have been reported.

PT Organics Limited, the company that makes the pouches, issued the recall after one of its packaging suppliers recalled defective pouches.

Consumers should check whether their pouches have the barcode 8 15367 01078 0 and best-before date listed in the recall notice.
