The Dane is a free sidekick in Fortnite that every player will automatically have with the v41.20 update (Hot Bat Summer). If you're wondering why you've checked out your Sidekicks tab in the Loadout, and you've seen the Dane, you haven't accidentally spent V-Bucks; you've received this sidekick entirely for free and get to keep it forever! Below, we'll share what Dane comes with and how you can find him in your Locker.
How to Find The Dane in Fortnite
- In the lobby, head to your Locker.
- Scroll down to Sidekicks.
- Select your Sidekicks, and the Dane should be one of your new options.
- The Dane has been added for free for all players, so you won't need to complete quests or purchase him from the Item Shop. Just check your Sidekicks, and he'll be there.
The Dane is essentially the default sidekick, much like how Jonesy was once the default skin! The purpose of the Dane is to show you how sidekicks behave in-game so you can decide if you want to buy more of them from the Item Shop.
What Does the Dane Come With in Fortnite?
The Dane comes with two exclusive cosmetics:
- Dane's Target (Sidekick Emote)
- Harness (Style)
As we mentioned above, the Dane is the default sidekick, which makes sense when you look at his harness and scarf and see it's nearly identical to the Chapter 2 default Jonesy outfit.
The Dane cannot be refunded or removed from your locker, but you can archive it so that it doesn't appear alongside your other sidekicks. If this is your first sidekick, it's important to know that enemy teams cannot see or hear your sidekick, and they only exist for you and your team!
