Former Bayern Munich prospect on his way to Sporting CP?

Former Bayern Munich prospect on his way to Sporting CP?

Nestory Irankunda could be on the move.

There is a potentially fascinating next step on the horizon for former Bayern Munich winger Nestory Irankunda.

According to Portuguese outlets Record and A Bola (as captured by Fox Sports), Sporting CP has submitted a proposal to Watford worth a €20 million package (€15 million fee, plus €5 million in bonuses) for Irankunda.

Sporting CP are reportedly pushing to sign the Australian international from Watford after an initial offer was rejected. The Portuguese giants are expected to return with an improved bid for the 20-year-old, who has seen his stock rise considerably following an impressive World Cup campaign.

Irankunda scored in Australia’s 2-0 victory over Türkiye, further highlighting the explosive talent that made him such an exciting prospect during his time at Bayern Munich.

A move to Sporting CP could be a very interesting opportunity for Irankunda. The club has a strong reputation for developing young talent and regularly providing a platform for players to establish themselves at the highest level. Sporting will also compete in the Champions League next season, which would give Irankunda the chance to test himself on one of European football’s biggest stages.

From Bayern Munich’s perspective, the situation is also worth monitoring. The club reportedly retained a buyback option and are rumored to have a significant sell-on percentage when Irankunda moved to Watford last summer.

After leaving Bayern in search of regular first-team football, Irankunda could now be on the verge of another major move. Sporting CP could be the perfect next step in his development.
