Fire burning near Camp Pendleton prompts smoke advisory and road closure

A vegetation fire burning in light grasses near Camp Pendleton prompted a smoke advisory and a road closure on Tuesday evening, Camp Pendleton officials said.

Camp Pendleton firefighters were at the scene battling the flames.

The fire has burned about 20 acres at Range 226 on the Marine base, and smoke could be seen billowing on AlertCalifornia/UC San Diego cameras.

Camp Pendleton and nearby communities may be able to see the smoke, officials with the Marine base wrote on social media.

Basilone Road, from Roblar Road to Las Pulgas Road, is closed due to the Range 226 fire, officials said.
