FIFA is facing pressure to relocate this Sunday's World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
Sky Sports reported that FIFA president Gianni Infantino is meeting with White House officials to discuss the air quality in the New York and New Jersey. There are concerns about hazardous and unhealthy smoke polluting the air in the Tri-State area, which would could then pose a problem for Argentina, Spain and the fans attending the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium.
Although a lot of the smoke plaguing New York right now is supposed to disappear before Sunday's match, there are plenty of soccer fans who believe the final should be relocated to either Miami or the West Coast.
"The final is going to be moved to Miami," one fan wrote on X.
"Their best bet will be to move the game to Seattle since they’re the only stadium as of now that hasn’t removed their grass pitch," a second fan said.
"Move it to Atlanta or LA. It’s where it always should have been," a third fan commented.
"Did SoFI already remove the grass? If not, they should play it there," another fan declared.
Could Miami be an option?
It's worth noting that Saturday's third-place match between England and France will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. That venue is clearly capable of hosting a significant World Cup match.
That being said, FIFA probably doesn't want to mess up anyone who purchased a ticket for Sunday's final at MetLife Stadium.
We'll see if FIFA relocates or postpones the Argentina-Spain final.
