Some of us here at PCWorld really liked Kensington’s chunky Expert Mouse TB800 EQ because it’s a comfy wireless trackball mouse with easy-to-use buttons and scroll wheels you can map to whatever functions suit your fancy.
It was also the first new iteration of the Expert Mouse that Kensington had released in roughly a decade, so there was plenty of excitement from trackball fans when it launched in 2025. That excitement quickly gave way to disappointment, as users started reporting tracking accuracy issues not long after.
Kensington, to its credit, pulled the TB800 from store shelves earlier this year and released a new model, the Expert Mouse Pro TB900 EQ. It’s nearly identical in appearance but promises to eliminate the sensor tracking issue that plagued the old TB800 EQ.
Our own Adam Patrick Murray was a fan of the original award-winning TB800 trackball mouse and used it regularly, so who better to evaluate its successor to see how it stacks up?
