FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Deputies believe that excessive speed was the cause of 18-year-old Kaylee Hottle’s death.
Hottle, a deaf actress known for her roles in the “Godzilla” movies, died in a car crash early Wednesday morning in Ijamsville, along Windsor Road, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a 19-year-old Frederick man was driving a 1995 Honda Accord when the car swerved off the side of the road and crashed into a culvert.
He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other passenger declined medical treatment, and Hottle was taken to the hospital, where she died.
“We found a young female unconscious and in critical condition,” said Michael Cole, chief of Frederick County Fire and Rescue. “We requested Maryland State Police for rapid transport to a trauma center, and the patient was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
The crash remains under investigation.
