The Green Bay Packers have reached the postseason in each of the last three years, but their playoff journey has ended before reaching the NFC Championship stage. Entering the 2026 campaign, the team is determined to break through and make a legitimate push toward a deeper postseason run.
The Packers are counting on improvement throughout their cornerback unit as they aim to take the next step in 2026. Among the newcomers, Benjamin St-Juste has drawn attention from ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, who believes the veteran defensive back could be a valuable piece for Green Bay. Barnwell showed his confidence in the signing by placing St-Juste on his All-Backup team.

“The Packers are usually a reliable source for talented depth, but this year, we’re going for one of their free agent additions on a low-cost contract,” wrote the NFL analyst.
St-Juste’s performance with the Chargers last season showed why Green Bay was interested in adding him to the secondary. Across 16 appearances in 2025, the cornerback recorded 37 tackles, seven pass deflections, and one interception. His Pro Football Focus numbers were also impressive, as his 75.6 overall grade ranked 12th among 114 qualified cornerbacks, while his 77.1 coverage grade placed him ninth.
“St-Juste was a promising cornerback in Washington before falling out of the starting lineup in 2024. The Canadian wisely chose to join the Chargers last offseason, where he was one of the many defensive backs to revitalize their careers under Jesse Minter, allowing a 68.3 passer rating in coverage across 356 snaps. St-Juste’s 6-3 frame makes him a valuable option on the outside for our defense.”
Green Bay ended the 2025 season with the NFL’s 11th-ranked pass defense, giving up 194.1 passing yards per game. Although the unit performed well overall, the Packers are aiming for even greater improvement in 2026. St-Juste may not enter the year as a top cornerback on the depth chart, but his contributions could still be valuable in helping the secondary reach its potential.
