The highly anticipated boxing card headlined by Errol Spence Jr.'s long-awaited return has taken a major blow after Jermall Charlo announced he will no longer compete on the event.
Charlo was scheduled to face Australia's Koen Mazoudier on July 26 in Sydney as the co-main event beneath Spence's showdown with Tim Tszyu. However, the fight was officially canceled after Charlo was denied a travel visa to enter Australia.
Charlo broke the news himself in an Instagram Story, apologizing to fans while promising he'll be back soon.
"Unfortunately, I will not be able to fight next Saturday," Charlo wrote. "I've been training nonstop for the last three months and was ready to make a statement."
He continued, "I want to apologize to all my fans and let them know I will keep training and be back on a PBC event very soon."
Australian authorities have not publicly disclosed why Charlo's visa application was denied.
The cancellation is a significant loss for the July 26 card, which was set to feature the return of both Spence and Charlo after lengthy absences from the ring.
Charlo enters the setback coming off an impressive performance in his most recent outing. The former two-division world champion returned from an 18-month layoff on May 31, 2025, and looked sharp against Thomas "Cornflake" LaManna. Displaying crisp timing and power throughout the fight, Charlo earned a sixth-round TKO victory after the referee stepped in just one second into the round.
The dominant win appeared to signal that Charlo was ready to reestablish himself among boxing's elite, making his scheduled return against Mazoudier an important step toward bigger fights.
Instead, fans will have to wait a little longer, with Charlo insisting he'll continue training and expects to return on a future Premier Boxing Champions event.
