'Dutton Ranch' fans may have just gotten a big clue about season 2

When Is ‘Dutton Ranch’ Coming Back?
Dutton Ranch has been renewed for Season 2 and fans may finally have a clue about when Beth and Rip’s next chapter could begin.

It could be back sooner than you’d think. 👀

Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler already got their second chance at a life after Yellowstone. Of course, because this is the Dutton universe, that second chance came with a rival ranch, a kidnapped son, a pregnancy secret, and more people making dangerous choices in the name of family. So, no, things aren’t exactly peaceful in Texas!

Dutton Ranch wrapped up Season 1 on July 3 and the finale left fans with plenty to worry about. Carter is in serious danger, Oreana is carrying a secret she hasn’t told him yet, and Beth and Rip’s fresh start now looks a whole lot more like another war they didn’t ask for (but will absolutely finish). That’s the thing about these two: They may be trying to build something new, but they’re still Beth and Rip. Nobody was watching that finale thinking they were going to handle this calmly!

The good news? We already know Dutton Ranch is coming back. The harder part is figuring out when—and what Season 2 might actually look like when it gets here.

Has ‘Dutton Ranch’ Been Renewed for Season 2?

Yes! Paramount+ officially renewed Dutton Ranch for Season 2 in June, about a month after the series premiered. The news wasn’t exactly shocking, considering the show had a huge start. According to Paramount+, Dutton Ranch drew 12.9 million global viewers in its first seven days, making it the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history.

That means Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler’s Texas story is not ending with that Season 1 cliffhanger. And thank goodness, because leaving Carter where the finale left him would have been rude even by Dutton standards.

When Will ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 Premiere?

Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date for Dutton Ranch Season 2 yet. Season 1 premiered on May 15, 2026 and ended on July 3 after nine episodes.

There is one clue, though. Ed Harris, who plays Everett McKinney, told Variety in a recent interview that he signed on for two seasons and that Season 2 begins filming next February. If that timeline holds, a late 2027 premiere feels more likely than anything earlier, but that’s just a guess until Paramount+ says so.

Who Will Be in the ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 Cast?

Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are expected to return as Beth and Rip, because there really isn’t a Dutton Ranch without them. Finn Little should also be back as Carter, especially after the finale put him directly in the middle of Season 2’s biggest problem.

Season 1 also starred Natalie Alyn Lind as Oreana, Annette Bening as Beulah Jackson, Ed Harris as Everett McKinney, Juan Pablo Raba as Joaquin, Marc Menchaca as Zachariah, J.R. Villarreal as Azul, and Jai Courtney as Rob-Will. Paramount+ has not released the official Season 2 cast list yet, but Harris has already said he’s signed on for two seasons. He also said he was told Everett will have “a little bit more to do” next season, according to People. (That last part is interesting because Everett felt like a character the show was saving for later. Apparently, later may be coming!)

Will Anything Change Behind the Scenes?

Yes, there’s one major change. Chad Feehan, who created Dutton Ranch and served as showrunner on Season 1, will not return for the second season. People reported that Benjamin Cavell will replace him as showrunner.

Cole Hauser addressed Feehan’s exit in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “Showrunners change all the time.” Kelly Reilly also said the team finished Season 1 with Feehan “beautifully.”

There may also be more Taylor Sheridan involvement next time around. Kelly told People that Sheridan “wants to be involved” in Season 2 after sitting out the first installment’s writers’ room.

What Could Happen in ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2?

Season 2 has one very obvious place to start: Carter. In the finale, he was kidnapped after hiding out at Dwight’s old ranch, and Beth and Rip learned pretty quickly that the people who took him were using him to get to them.

Then there’s Oreana, who found out she’s pregnant but didn’t tell Carter before everything went sideways. That secret is going to have to come out eventually!

The show also still has to deal with Rob-Will’s death, Joaquin’s next move, Beulah’s grip on what’s left of her world, and whatever Everett is going to be doing now that Ed Harris has hinted at a bigger role.

So when Dutton Ranch returns, it probably won’t be easing back in gently. Beth and Rip have a family to protect, enemies to answer, and a ranch that was supposed to be their fresh start. Around here, that usually means the fight is just getting started!
