Employees might want to be careful not to mix up the mayo and the vanilla glaze. Inspire Brands is opening its first combination Dunkin’ and Jimmy John’s at 4855 Roosevelt Ave. in early 2027.
Neither brand needs much of an introduction to locals. Jimmy John’s is known for its cold subs and wraps, while Dunkin’ is synonymous with doughnuts and coffee. Between the two brands, there are more than 30 locations within the city limits alone.
Inspire first combined the two concepts in 2022, debuting the mash-up to a captive audience — the employees of its Atlanta Global Support Center. The restaurant group is one of the largest in the U.S., also handling the franchising for Buffalo Wild Wings, Baskin-Robbins, Arby’s, and Sonic.
While combo restaurants may evoke unfortunate images of horseradish sundaes, it makes good business sense for fast-food conglomerates weathering shifts in consumer spending habits. The units maximize profits, streamline real estate costs, and cut training costs.
Dual-branding also helps companies capture different dining times and preferences. Dine Brands has been pairing IHOP and Applebee’s for its most recent openings. Global giant Yum Brands remixes its Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut locations in every possible configuration, sometimes squeezing all three in one building.
Inspire has not yet announced when San Antonians can order a Fetty W(r)ap Meal (yes, it’s a thing) with a strawberry frosted. According to newly filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project details, the 1,986-square-foot outpost is set to finish out construction at the end of January 2027. A request for more information was not immediately returned.
