When Goku unlocked Ultra Instinct in Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power arc, it changed the trajectory of how transformations were treated in the franchise going forward. Instead of having blanket Super Saiyan evolutions for the main heroes, they would instead undergo their specific paths to power, building on their individual strengths and abilities.
As such, the next person to unlock a character-specific form was none other than Vegeta, which he did with Ultra Ego. This insanely powerful transformation made full use of the Prince's nature as a brawler, so, in a similar vein, let's take a look at other characters from Dragon Ball who would make the best candidates for this fabled technique of the Destroyer Gods.
Moro Would Have Been An Ideal User Of This Technique
The Planet Eater
Although this terrifying villain died at the end of the Galactic Prisoner Patrol arc, his showing during its events proved just how perfect of a wielder of Ultra Ego he would be. More than anything else, his personality and arsenal of techniques showed off his ego and self-absorbed nature, which many fans believe is essential for the technique.
Furthermore, Moro fought like a brute who just wanted to destroy his opponents no matter what, which ultimately was also to his detriment as he never really trained to hone his powers, similar to Vegeta's stint with Ultra Ego against Granolah and Gas. Overall, Moro's journey and thematic connections with the techniques are far too striking to ignore.
Kefla Perfectly Embodies The Core Saiyan Values
Universe 6's Powerful Fusion
More than anything, the main reason why Ultra Ego works so well for Vegeta is because it meshes perfectly with his brawler-like Saiyan fighting style. Even his worldview and pursuit of strength is perfectly encapsulated by this ultimate transformation. Because of this, Kefla would make for an exceptional use of this power as well.
This is because she embodies the core Saiyan values better than any of the active Saiyans in the story aside from Vegeta himself, and this is quite evident from her fighting style as a powerful brawler as well. Due to her being the product of powerful Saiyans Caulifla and Kale, Kefla could definitely become a very powerful user of the legendary technique of the Destroyer Gods.
Frieza Is A Surprisingly Great Fit For The Technique
The Galactic Tyrant
When training Vegeta to unlock Ultra Ego in the first place, Beerus made an interesting point when he stated that, to wield the power of a destroyer, one must remake themselves from scratch and keep their minds solely on the aspect of destruction, free from any moral restraints or guilt that come with the immense destruction that their power could cause.
From this alone, it can be seen that Frieza would be one of, if not the single, best users of Ultra Ego. Frieza is an unapologetic tyrant whose strength and ambition allow him to do whatever he wants without thinking about how it affects others. This goes perfectly in line with the mindset one needs to wield a Destroyer's power, and though Frieza would never actively seek Ultra Ego because of his already unparalleled Black Frieza state, it can't be denied that it would fit him very well.
Toppo May Already Have Unlocked Ultra Ego
Universe 11's New Destroyer
Of all the characters on this list, Toppo is the closest to actually unlocking Ultra Ego due to him taking on the role of Universe 11's new Destroyer after the Tournament of Power. Seen as Vegeta's counterpart in the tournament while Jiren and Goku squared off, it would also be a great narrative decision to have Toppo unlock this legendary technique.
Toppo completely embraced his identity as the new Destroyer for Universe 11 in the closing moments of the Tournament of Power, abandoning who he previously was in order to unlock a state that allowed him to use Hakai and the Energy of Destruction. It's entirely possible that, by the next time we meet him, Toppo has already unlocked Ultra Ego.
Broly Is The Perfect Candidate To Unlock Ultra Ego After Vegeta
The Legendary Super Saiyan
The points that have been listed to make a case for the previous entries to unlock Ultra Ego can all be applied to Broly more than anyone else. Most fans agree that this incredible Saiyan warrior is the perfect candidate to unlock Ultra Ego after Vegeta, and everything about his character screams something similar. Broly's unbelievable potential has cemented him as an unparalleled powerhouse who can close the gap between himself and much stronger opponents in an instant.
In his strongest form, he throws all caution to the wind and fights like an uncontrollable monster who just destroys everything in his path, which is perfect for this Divine Technique. The only way to defeat Broly is simply through being far stronger than him, and although he has reached new heights by finally controlling his Full Powered Super Saiyan form, he will always be considered the best character to wield Ultra Ego aside from Vegeta.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
