Clark, who is averaging 20.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game, continues to attract massive audiences with Indiana. In fact, their most recent game against the New York Liberty — a 108-88 blowout win for the Fever — saw 3.089 million viewers tune in at its peak.
The showdown averaged 2.579 million viewers, the most-watched game on any network this season and the second-most-watched game since 2000, per CBS Sports.
Sure enough, the numbers only further back up the fact that Clark is one of, if not the most valuable players in the WNBA in terms of economic impact.
Dick Vitale Comments on Caitlin Clark
As Clark and the Fever continue to pull impressive viewership numbers, legendary college basketball announcer Dick Vitale couldn't help but emphasize the superstar guard's value to the WNBA.
While Vitale acknowledged the fact that Clark is not the best player in the WNBA — that honor goes to Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson, who has the accolades and pedigree to back it up — there's no denying how popular the Fever All-Star is.
"No one can deny the value & popularity of @CaitlinClark22 - she has been invaluable to the @WNBA / clearly the best player in the league is Aja Wilson!" Vitale wrote, while sharing a report about Clark and the Fever's recent viewership record.
Vitale has been a strong supporter of Clark for years now. He has even spoken out about the unfair treatment that the 24-year-old playmaker has gotten from her peers.
It's also not the first time he has spoken about how valuable Clark is. The ESPN icon previously stated that Clark deserves to be treated like "royalty" in the WNBA because "she has been the leader for the league in many ways," from public relations to TV interest.
