A new trailer for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall has officially been released, as DC Studios announced that the first installment in the trilogy will debut on August 25. Check it out below:
The animated trilogy will adapt the famous Batman: Knightfall arc, where the villainous Bane comes to Gotham City and literally breaks Bruce Wayne's back, which became one of the most pivotal stories for the DC icon. As of writing, no release dates have been shared for the two follow-ups.
Anson Mount, who voiced Batman in the animated Injustice film, will be getting another shot at playing the Gotham City crime-fighter. The cast also includes Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Michael Mando as Bane. Halo's Pablo Schreiber will be voicing Jean-Paul Valley, a.k.a. Azrael, who briefly takes up the Caped Crusader's mantle after Bruce goes down.
The latest trailer shows more footage of other DC foes who will appear in the animated adventure, including the Riddler, Mister Freeze, and Mad Hatter. Parts 2 and 3, which are likely going to adapt the Knightquest and Knightsend chapters, will be released in late 2026 and early 2027, according to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
While Batman: Knightfall will adapt the 1993-1993 arc in animation, elements from the unforgettable story were used in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012. Tom Hardy, who portrayed Bane in Christian Bale's trilogy finale, served as the antagonist and even broke Bruce's back.
With more Batman movies on their way, DC Studios also has Batman: Caped Crusader returning this summer for season 2. Scott Snyder's Absolute Batman comic is also in development, as it will be adapted as a new adult animated series.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment teases Part 1 with the following synopsis: "Arkham Asylum has been destroyed, and all its inmates have been unleashed upon Gotham City. As Batman races to round up some of his greatest enemies, he is pushed to his physical and mental limits and into a final confrontation with a new threat: the man called Bane! Based on the iconic DC comic book event, Batman: Knightfall – Part 1: Knightfall tells the story of the breaking of the Bat."
