Damian Lillard watched the entire 2025-26 season from the sidelines due to a torn Achilles tendon after the Bucks waived him and he joined the Trail Blazers. But after Giannis Antetokounmpo was traded to the Heat a year later, NBA fans still managed to drag Lillard back into the mess of the Bucks’ aftermath of this blockbuster move.
A video was shared on social media where Davion Mitchell of the Heat was simply training with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Greece. An NBA fan decided to scrutinize Damian Lillard in the comment section. The nine-time All-Star saw this remark and fired back at the fan with a cryptic comment about the Bucks.
“Lol mfs don’t want Dame to tell it. Be thankful I ain’t running my mouth like these other suckas… carry on,”wrote Dame in response to a fan saying Davion Mitchell is doing what Damian Lillard couldn’t.
Teammates can have multiple frustrations with one another and still share a mutual respect for what they bring to the court.
Before the blockbuster trade went down, Myles Turner’s comments about Giannis Antetokounmpo had gone viral, where he claimed that the Greek star had some inconsiderate habits towards his teammates, like coming late for team flights and practice.
Ethically, Lillard tried to steer clear of the drama but also made fans more curious about what he’s not willing to reveal. They took to social media and seemingly encouraged Lillard to spill the beans.
“I think it’s obvious. Other sucka is Myles Turner. He couldn’t keep his mouth closed about how Giannis was moving like he was bigger than the program. Giannis has always been a fake humble guy.”
“It’s pretty obvious. The other guy is Myles Turner. He couldn’t keep his mouth shut about Giannis acting like he was bigger than the team. That ‘humble’ image has always felt fake to me.”
“You and Giannis still good?”
“Dame, the Giannis era is over. Please drop all the dirt; Bucks fans will love you even more.”
“Gotta drop the tee one of these days, brother. Milwaukee loved you; we need the truth.”
“GOAT played through a blood clot for the lying Greek and idiot front office. Always a legend in my book.”
Various such reactions indicated that while Lillard does not respect what Turner said, he may have his own frustrations with Antetokounmpo, which he is not revealing.
Lillard seems to be saying that instead of unraveling something controversial about the Greek star, he has taken the high road. Unlike someone else, who is presumably Myles Turner.
Therefore, this can be construed as an indirect shot at both Antetokounmpo and Turner, as Lillard seems to hint at having his own frustrations with the Greek star while not respecting what Turner said.
But unlike Turner, Lillard is apparently choosing integrity as a former teammate over the desire to get media attention for the dirt he could be willing to spill.
However, his words clearly show that he is holding back on some frustrations he may have had with the Bucks, and potentially Giannis Antetokounmpo in specific from back when he was waived to make salary cap space to land Turner.
It will be interesting to see if Damian Lillard eventually decides to uncover the details of the stories he is holding back. But so far, a respectable move by the 36-year-old veteran.
