The Felix family’s newborn daughter made an unexpected entrance into the world in the parking lot of the Gila River Resorts & Casinos-San Tan Mountain.
It happened after Regena and Frankie Felix were sent home from the hospital, as the staff believed Regena’s labor wasn’t progressing quickly enough.
However, as a mother of four, Regena felt differently about the situation, and her instincts proved correct just minutes later when her water broke during the drive home.
Frankie pulled into the casino parking lot, which was the closest well-lit spot he could find.

The stakes quickly escalated to a terrifying level when they realized the baby was starting to turn blue as the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck.
“I didn’t [know what to do],” Frankie told Fox 10. “Not enough military training in the world prepared me to deliver a baby, and I just did.”
Little Noa was born safely in the front seat of the couple’s brand-new SUV after Frankie managed to untangle the cord.
Noa is currently thriving at home after she was declared healthy by her pediatrician, who described her as a “feisty little thing” and commended the parents for acting quickly under pressure.
Even though the hospital might have missed the warning signs, the Felix family ended up stepping up to the task.
Still, Regena believes the hospital should have been a lot more attentive.
“I definitely feel like they should listen to women more. Because I asked her, ‘Well, what am I supposed to do? Go home and just be in pain? You see what I’m going through right now and you’re sending me home,’” Regena told the outlet.
Another baby, Zanovia, had to be delivered outside the hospital, this time because her mother, Kashanna Legette, was struggling to reach the hospital.

After struggling to walk down the stairs, Legette barely made it to a piece of discarded furniture outside her building to lie down as she went into labor.
Fortunately, a group of nearby New York police officers responded swiftly to the unexpected roadside delivery. The officers were on a violent crime deterrence patrol when they were flagged down and became the first responders at the scene.
Though it was all a blur, she remembered seeing a lot of blue, which she later realized was the uniforms of the police officers who quickly arrived at the scene to assist her.
Legette said one officer was holding her hand, offering words of encouragement, while others reminded her to breathe deeply and remain calm throughout the intense process.
When the mother and her baby reunited with the officers at the precinct to personally thank them, Legette named her daughter after one of the officers.
