Costco fans say this grab-and-go dinner tastes like it came from an expensive Italian restaurant

When it comes to quick dinners you can microwave or pop in the oven, you certainly have plenty of options. Some grocery stores have hot bars or serve pre-made meals. The frozen aisle at almost any store is stocked with frozen pizzas, chicken nuggets, and fish sticks, not to mention frozen lasagna or stir-fry meals that promise homemade- or takeout-quality (which, at least in my experience, absolutely do not deliver).

Sometimes, those meals work just fine. I’ll be the first to admit I love frozen pizza and always keep at least one in my freezer. But other times, I want a ready-made meal that I can’t tell came from the freezer or the grocery store. I want it to taste homemade or like it came from a restaurant.

And apparently, I might be able to find that fresh taste at Costco—the store is restocking a prepared meal that many love and that some even deem restaurant-quality.

Italian Sausage Pasta Meal Returns to Costco’s Deli Section

If you want a quick, tasty pasta bake to shove into the oven on a busy night, then Costco is the place to hit. Its latest ready-made meal is an Italian Sausage Pasta in Garlic Wine Sauce, a specialty pasta bake that’s as easy to cook as it is tasty.

The meal features orecchiette pasta mixed with chunks of Italian sausage, tomatoes, spinach, and shredded Parmesan that’s cooked in a garlic wine sauce. Best of all, the meal prep is about as easy as it gets. The dish comes with what you need to cook it in—just replace the plastic lid with foil, place it on a cookie sheet, and bake for about 50 minutes.

While it doesn’t explicitly note the serving size, the meal can likely serve four to six people depending on portion size and whether you’re serving any sides. If you whip up some roasted vegetables, a side salad, and some garlic bread, you can easily stretch it.

The meal kit has been in and out of Costco over the years, and shoppers are always excited to see it return. As a Facebook poster described, the pasta bake “tastes like it came from an expensive Italian restaurant.”

One Redditor noted that “There’s almost as much sausage as pasta. It is so good,” and suggested adding additional tomatoes and spinach, while many others said they would be heading to their local Costcos to find the meal.

Another shopper even noted that the meal “was a staple for dinner every week.” So good that you eat it weekly is certainly high praise. 

The Italian Sausage Pasta bake costs $5.49 per pound, so a full meal will likely run you a little more than $20. If you don’t mind paying for the convenience of not having to cook and want something a little more indulgent than a frozen pizza, this prepared meal from Costco is the perfect (and delicious!) solution.
