The Pembroke Pines Police Department will host its next Pop Up Rec, Grill & Chill event on Saturday, July 25, for those looking to share a classic summer treat with city officers.
Free hot dogs will be grilled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Memorial Park courtesy of PPPD’s Community Affairs Unit, the department charged with strengthening ties between residents and the agency by serving as a contact point.
Which franks will be on the menu? According to PPPD, Ball Park all-beef hot dogs are the brand of choice.
Refreshments to beat the summer heat and cookies to end the event on a sweet note will also be served while supplies last.
The weekend pop-up is America 250-themed, keeping with nationwide celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary since its founding.
That means police are pulling out all the stops for attendees — think sports, games, and arts and crafts from the city’s Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
“It was the perfect weather to enjoy a hot dog from our PPPD Community Affairs Unit and play around with all of the many activities, sports equipment and crafts,” PPPD said in a recap of its last grill and chill, held July 18 at William B. Armstrong Dream Park.
