A Florida woman recently claimed a $1 million top prize after purchasing a winning scratch-off ticket in Orlando, the Florida Lottery announced.
Tatyana Ashe, 27, claimed the top prize from the AMERICA 250 FLORIDA Scratch-Off game on April 1 at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. Ashe selected a one-time, lump-sum payment of $606,600.00 for her winnings.
The winning ticket was bought at the Wawa convenience store located at 14548 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando.
The $5 scratch-off game, AMERICA 250 FLORIDA, features four top prizes of $1 million and overall odds of winning at 1-in-4.01. According to the Florida Lottery, the game’s design “highlights Florida’s unique history and connects it to the American story,” adding that the visual themes “remind participants of the state’s past and its enduring commitment to freedom.”
Under Chapter 24 of Florida Statutes, the names of lottery winners and their city of residence are classified as public record and may be released by the agency after 90 days.
Since starting operations in 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $51 billion to state education programs, including funding for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The agency states that 99 percent of its revenue is reinvested back into the state economy through prize distributions, retailer commissions, and educational transfers.
