Humphrey Bogart became one of the world's most popular actors during the 1940's, beginning his film career in 1928.
For 28 years, Bogart featured in roughly 28 films and starred in some classics, including 1941's The Maltese Falcon, 1948's The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and 1951's The African Queen.
But Bogart's most memorable film came in 1943, starring as Rick Blaine in the drama movie Casablanca. The movie also starred Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund Laszlo and Paul Henreid as Victor Laszlo.
Casablanca follows Rick, an American cafe owner, who is struggling to decide if he should help his former lover, Ilsa, and her husband, Victor, escape the Nazis in French Morocco.
The film went on to win three Oscars in eight nominations at the 16th Academy Awards, including Outstanding Motion Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. And Casablanca turned out to be a financial success as well, grossing around $4 million.

Casablanca is widely considered one of the best movies of all time, with Rotten Tomatoes ranking it No. 4 on its list.
And recently, Collider's Jeremy Urquhart named Casablanca the "best movie ending of all time," citing the film's emotional finale, in which Rick sacrifices his love for Ilsa and watches her board a plane to Lisbon.
Casablanca beat out many other classic films as the best movie ending of all time. This includes No. 2 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), No. 3 Cinema Paradiso (1988) and No. 4 All That Jazz (1979).
