Women Are Changing More Than the Tee Sheet
The National Golf Foundation reported that more than 8.1 million women and girls played golf on a course in 2025, a 45% increase since 2020. Women and girls now represent 28% of the on-course population and accounted for 52% of the game’s net participation gains from 2020 through 2025.
Those figures describe more than a participation bump. They represent millions of golfers bringing their own expectations into a travel category that was historically organized around a familiar formula: early tee times, multiple rounds, a steakhouse dinner and very little room for anything else.

Pebble Beach Resorts is seeing its own version of that movement. Year-over-year figures supplied for this story show female golfers across its courses increasing 12%, female day-guest golfers rising 15% and female resort-guest golfers climbing 9%. All women staying at the resort increased 10%, including a 12% rise among non-golfing female guests.
The increase among non-golfers may be the most telling number in the group.
A successful women’s golf trip does not require every traveler to have the same handicap, the same appetite for 18 holes or even the desire to play. It requires a destination capable of making the golfer’s experience feel special without leaving everyone else feeling like an accessory to it.
That is where Casa Palmero makes sense.
Golf remains central, but it does not have to dominate. One member of the group can play Pebble Beach Golf Links while another schedules time at The Spa at Pebble Beach. A casual player can choose The Hay instead of another demanding championship round. Someone else can spend the afternoon walking through Del Monte Forest or exploring Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Casa Palmero Keeps Pebble Beach Close Without Feeling Busy

The danger is trying to consume all of it at once.
A packed schedule can turn a bucket-list destination into a checklist. Travelers begin rushing from breakfast to the practice tee, from the 18th green to dinner, then back to the room so they can do it again the following morning. The golf may be memorable, but the trip itself becomes a blur.
Casa Palmero’s smaller footprint changes that rhythm.
The estate-like property includes 24 rooms and suites, a living room, library, billiard room, heated outdoor pool and personal concierge service. Guest rooms begin at 585 square feet and include fireplaces and oversized soaking tubs, while some rooms and suites have private patios, courtyards and whirlpool spas. The property underwent a refresh in 2024 that retained its Mediterranean character while updating its interiors.
Breakfast baskets are delivered to guest rooms each morning. Complimentary cocktails and local wine flights are offered in the evening. Yoga and sound-healing activities are included, and The Spa at Pebble Beach sits adjacent to the property.
Those details matter because group travel needs natural gathering points. The best moments are not always formally scheduled. They often happen over coffee before anyone has checked the weather, beside the pool after the round or in a quiet room when the group finally has time to talk.
Casa Palmero creates more of that space than a larger, busier hotel typically can.
Privacy is part of the appeal, but the better word may be control. Guests can decide when to join the wider resort and when to retreat from it. They can pursue the full Pebble Beach itinerary or leave an afternoon intentionally empty.
That is a luxury golfers do not always give themselves.
The Golf Access Still Has to Work
A quieter hotel is useful only if it remains practical for the golfers making the trip.
Casa Palmero does.
Guests have access to Pebble Beach Resorts’ golf offerings, and resort guests receive a substantial booking advantage at Pebble Beach Golf Links. They may reserve tee times well in advance, subject to minimum-stay requirements, while non-resort guests can book Pebble Beach Golf Links only 24 hours ahead. Casa Palmero rooms may be reserved up to 12 months in advance, subject to availability, and Pebble Beach encourages guests to request golf when booking accommodations.
That access protects the golf portion of the trip without requiring every person to follow the same itinerary.
The serious player can build the visit around Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Another golfer may prefer a shorter experience at The Hay. The group can reconnect afterward without anyone having spent the day waiting for an 18-hole round to end.
Pebble Beach’s location adds another layer. The resort maintains more than 27 miles of marked trails through Del Monte Forest, and the Monterey Peninsula places Carmel-by-the-Sea, Point Lobos and Big Sur within reach.
Those options should not be treated as consolation prizes for the non-golfer. They are part of the destination.
That distinction matters. Golf travel has too often been designed around the assumption that the course is the experience and everything else is filler. At a place such as Pebble Beach, the setting deserves more respect than that. The game, coastline, forest, architecture and time shared with the group all belong to the same trip.
Casa Palmero’s strongest quality may be that it does not force travelers to choose between them.
A Better Trip Leaves Something in Reserve
Women are not the only golfers interested in better rooms, recovery, wellness or a less frantic itinerary. Those preferences cross generations and demographics.
Women are, however, helping push the industry toward a broader understanding of what a golf trip can be.
The trip does not become less serious because someone schedules a spa treatment. The golfer who plays one meaningful round instead of three is not less committed. A friend who never touches a club can still be central to the experience.
The more inclusive model may also be the more sustainable one. It gives different travelers a reason to return and makes a demanding destination easier to share with spouses, friends and family members who experience golf differently.
Pebble Beach will always be the reason many of these trips begin. The golf courses, history and coastline have earned that pull.
Casa Palmero makes a persuasive case that where the group stays, how it spends the hours between rounds and whether everyone feels included may determine whether they want to make the trip again.
