Carly Pearce shared her candid outlook on children and marriage.
Pearce, 36, responded to a TikTok commenter who asked, “Are you still deciding about having kids? Getting married again?” Pearce was married to fellow country artist Michael Ray for about eight months. She filed for divorce in June 2020, and has since opened up about the heartbreak and healing in her music. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is currently dating Jordan Karcher. She publicly confirmed the relationship in June 2025.
“Here’s the deal with this. And I don’t know. Maybe some of you out here are like me,” Pearce said in her response on TikTok. “I always feel bad saying that I actually don’t want children. I love children, I love my friends’ children, I’m a great aunt. But it was never my dream. My dream was to pursue country music and live on the road, and I know some people do that and they’re great at it. But it has never been my dream. And I think that we should normalize people that truly know they don’t want to have kids. I don’t think it should be for everyone just because society tells us to. So, I don’t want children, and I’m totally OK with that. And I absolutely want to get married again and intend to get married again, and will never let my past hinder me from doing that again. So what, I got divorced? It was my startup marriage, and now I get to have the real one.”
Pearce is getting ready to release her highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Honest Woman. The 16-track record includes “Dream Come True,” “Church Girl,” “She Don’t,” “You Can Have Him,” “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” featuring Riley Green, “What If You Loved Me” featuring Molly Tuttle and Dan Tyminski, and more. Pearce is celebrating the Honest Woman record with her intimate “Honest Woman: Up Close” run of shows. The live performances will feature Belle Frantz, who recently discovered she would make her debut at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, thanks to a surprise from Pearce.
“When I started making Honest Woman, I found myself rediscovering who I am and why I wanted to be a country music singer in the first place,” Pearce said in a statement when she announced the record. “This album takes me back to the beginning of my story, where the sounds of classic country and bluegrass music shaped who I am. I’m so proud of this body of work, and I truly feel like it’s my best yet.”
Honest Woman arrives on August 28.
