Caregiver accused of abusing her client at Westport YMCA

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A Fairfield woman was arrested after allegedly physically abusing her disabled client at the Weston Family YMCA in Westport, police said Wednesday.

Paraprofessional Elisa Feinman, 68, was charged Tuesday with third-degree abuse of persons and third-degree assault of an intellectually disabled person, the Westport Police Department said.

On Saturday afternoon, an officer responded to the Westport Weston Family YMCA on Allen Raymond Lane following a complaint by staff members. The report stated that staff saw a caregiver, later identified as Feinman, “physically mistreating her intellectually disabled client” while at the facility, police said.

Police sought an arrest watrant for Feinman after reviewing surveillance video of the incident, officials said.

Feinman turned herself in at police headquarters on Tuesday evening to be charged, according to police.

She posted her $50,000 bond, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on July 31.
