Many states have special provisions for drivers over the age of 75, including Mississippi.

While the earliest residents can get their driver’s license is 16 years old, there is no maximum age limit for residents to get their license, according to state law.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any rules for mature drivers. Here’s what to know in the Magnolia State.

What are requirements for mature drivers?

Mississippi drivers ages 75 and older are subject to the following rules, according to legal publisher NOLO:

  • Renewing their licenses in person
  • Accept requests from interested parties to conduct unsafe driver investigations

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety can also impose the following on older drivers, according to NOLO:

  • No freeway driving
  • An additional right side mirror on a vehicle
  • No nighttime driving
  • No driving during rush hour traffic
  • Wear bioptic telescopic lens while driving

How to request an unsafe driver investigation in MS?

You can request an unsafe driver investigation by contacting any local DPS office in the state, experts said.
