Calix, a provider of software and solutions for broadband companies, saw stronger demand for its products tied to increased demand for broadband Internet across the country, with its second quarter (Q2) revenue rising as a direct result of that increased business.

During Q2, Calix earned $293.3 million in overall revenue, up 5 percent on a sequential basis and 21 percent compared to Q2 2025. The result exceeded the high end of Calix’s previous guidance range of $287 million to $293 million.

Software and service revenue reached a record $50.5 million, up 7 percent sequentially and 16 percent year over year. Calix attributed the growth to demand for software licenses, its Calix Cloud platform and SmartLife managed services.

The company added 14 service provider customers during the quarter and said the number of Calix One contracts tripled from the prior period. Calix One uses artificial intelligence-supported tools and workflows to help broadband providers acquire subscribers, reduce customer losses and increase average revenue per user.

Remaining performance obligations reached a record $386.4 million, increasing 3 percent sequentially and 11 percent from the prior year. The measure reflects contracted revenue primarily tied to cloud software, managed services, warranties and support agreements.

For the third quarter, Calix expects revenue of $301 million to $307 million. Non-GAAP earnings are projected between 37 cents and 45 cents per share, with GAAP earnings between 16 cents and 24 cents. Full-year revenue growth should finish near the upper end of its previously announced range of 15 percent to 20 percent.

In a letter to shareholders, Calix President and CEO Michael Weening and Chief Financial Officer Cory Sindelar said the company is prioritizing three core objectives: Helping legacy communications operators add new customers, winning over new business from its existing subscribers and adding revenue while lowering churn among served broadband clients.

As with most of corporate America, Calix is turning to various artificial intelligence-enabled solutions to help tick the boxes on its list of goals. The company converted most of its platform to one powered natively by AI solutions, and is now helping clients do the same through its AI-powered Calix One product.

“We are pairing this momentum with an AI-enabled internal transformation to improve how we operate and serve customers,” the executives wrote. “As we prepare to scale Calix One across our base and into MDU (multi-dwelling units), new sovereign geographies and private platform opportunities, we are focused on competing and winning for years to come.”

A few companies are already taking advantage of Calix One’s next phase of growth by tapping into the various solutions offered in order to grow their own businesses. Alaska Communications saw a 193 percent in growth associated with its enterprise service SmartBiz, which allows companies to deploy managed WiFi products and solutions, and won new MDU business using Calix One, the company said.

Others, like VNET Fiber and Big Bend Telephone, saw similar business outcomes using the products offered through Calix One. VNET Fiber saw a 10 percent increase in average revenue per user (ARPU) on a year-over basis after integrating some Calix solutions into its MDU business, while Big Bend Telephone saw 20 percent ARPU growth by offering its own SmartBiz solution.
