Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is not afraid to earn technical fouls. In her 22nd game of the 2026 WNBA season, the third-year pro earned her seventh tech, putting her one away from an automatic one-game suspension.
Fever coach Stephanie White revealed she was planning on having a conversation with Clark after her sixth technical, but that didn't stop the third-year guard.
With Indiana leading the hapless Connecticut Sun 95-67 and 31 seconds left in the third quarter on Wednesday, Clark took a bump from Sun guard Saniya Rivers.
The Fever playmaker reacted angrily, even as Rivers walked away, though the Sun guard snuck a passing remark in. Clark pointed at her face and told her opponent, " Check the f---ing scoreboard." Both players were issued technical fouls.

Clark addressed the incident postgame. "She said she was locking me up, so I said, 'Scoreboard,’ and the ref didn’t like that," the Fever guard shared. “That fire is what makes me, me.”
She was then asked if a suspension for an eighth technical foul is inevitable. “You gotta ask the magic 8 ball," Clark answered.
Head coach Stephenie White was asked about Clark's proclivity for technical fouls.
“She knows. She has awareness about it," White responded
"We’ll try to help her when we can, but sometimes we can’t. And if she wants to be strategic about which game she doesn’t want to play, then she’ll let ‘er fly.”
Indiana went on to score a franchise-record 123 points in a 123-88 win. Clark scored 27 points on 8/13 shooting, making five of her nine three-pointers, while dishing out 11 assists in 27 minutes.
Clark became the only player in WNBA history to score 25 points and tally 10 assists in under 30 minutes earlier this week. On Wednesday, she accomplished the feat for a second time.

Clark (27 points), Kelsey Mitchell (23 points), and Aliyah Boston (22 points) became the all-time leading WNBA trio in shared 20-point contests. The win sees the Fever improve to 17-10
Sophie Cunningham was asked about her comments about wanting to include trans women, who were referred to as "biological men," in a pregame interview, from women's sports. She didn't make any of her three field goals, but shot 8-10 from the free throw line.
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. … I think it’s really important to protect children," Cunningham told reporters.
