Caitlin Clark and Kayla McBride each won a major WNBA award

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride have been named the WNBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week for games played last week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Clark averaged 25 points, 7.7 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game, while McBride averaged 28.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.

The Fever went 2-1, racking up victories against the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty. Clark exploded for 45 points and 10 assists in a 110-107 victory over the Storm on Friday, becoming the first player in WNBA history to record such a stat line. She also set a new franchise record for most points in a game en route to her second Player of the Week selection of the season (and 5th of her career).

The Lynx, meanwhile, went 3-0, with wins over the Phoenix Mercury, Los Angeles Sparks, and Portland Fire. McBride shot 59.6% and 44.4% from three. McBride has led the team in scoring in 8 straight games.

For the season, Clark is averaging 20.7 points (6th-most in the WNBA) and 7.8 assists (second-most in the WNBA) per game.

McBride is averaging 18.1 points (10th-most in the WNBA) and 3.7 rebounds per game. She’s made the third-most three-pointers in the league (71) and is fourth in free throw percentage (90.7%). This selection is the second of her career.
