The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series has been an up-and-down one for Bubba Wallace.
Wallace, who drives the No. 23 Toyota for 23XI Racing, has had to watch his teammate, No. 45 car driver Tyler Reddick, rack up a ton of wins. Wallace, meanwhile, has struggled to post consistent top 10 finishes.
The longtime NASCAR Cup Series driver has been frustrated with his performances. He's had several races where he's been up in the front, only to have some kind of penalty or crash wreck his day.
Wallace ended up finishing in sixth place at the Window World 450 on Sunday, which is a solid result.
“The heat was OK,” said Wallace to TNT Sports. ”I was actually fine in the car. It’s just the adrenaline. As soon as you end, I could still run another hundred laps. But as soon as you stop and reset, that’s when the adrenaline just leaves the building.
“So all in all, good night for our Coca-Cola team. No yellow line and fractions. I get to keep my finishing position. And yeah, it sets us up nice for the Brickyard next week, which we have a lot of confidence and momentum going into.
“So I’m excited for that.”
Wallace did take a shot at NASCAR following his penalty last week
Wallace, who was hit with a tough penalty last week, got in a dig at NASCAR during his post-race interview.
“I hope it was a good race from the stands, the fans’ viewpoint. For us, man, you just were so fast in the center of the corner, and you can’t pass doing that.
“And then you take out all the bumper structure. You can’t hit anybody. So all in all, I’m just really pleased with how our night went.
“Controlled everything that we could control. Pit crew did a great job firing on all cylinders.”
Wallace is clearly still not pleased with his yellow line penalty last week, but he appears to have rebounded nicely this weekend.
